Quick Installation:
v"z Extract the archive to a disk or directory.
Assign Demo: to that disk or directory.
v"z
Pro-Net_Demo
v"z is a demonstration version of
v"z
Pro-Net V2.0C
v"z, the
latest version of our Schematic Capture program. Pro-Net allows
you to quickly and easily call up, place, move, or delete devices
from a large library of parts, make connections by drawing a
sequence of straight lines, bundling associated signal lines into
busses, and labelling lines and busses. The Post Processing
functions allow you to create
v"z
Net Lists
v"z for use by Pro-Board (our
Printed Circuit Board layout package),
v"z
Bills of Materials
v"z (a
sorted list of the parts you have placed on your schematic, with a
count of each),
v"z
Component Maps
v"z (find the schematic page where your
parts or gates are located),
v"z
Page Referencing
v"z (tells where your
signals are coming from or going to), and
v"z
Error Checking
v"z (detects
output overloading, output-to-output connections, and sums total
supply current).
The most important thing to remember is that Prolific products
are designed for seamless operation using either the mouse or
keyboard.
v"z
There are no Pull-Down menus.
v"z The Right Mouse Button
is used to Delete items which were Added with the Left Mouse
Button. You cannot Delete an object (device, line, signal name,
text label, etc.) unless you are in the mode to Add the object.
The Gadgets displayed at the bottom of the screen are called
Intelligent Function Keys (IFK for short). IFKs are dynamic; some
or all of them will change as you move through the hierarchical
menu structure to display the available commands. IFKs can be
activated with either the mouse or the corresponding Function Key
at the top of the main keyboard.
One more note before starting the Demo... because Pro-Net comes
with almost a thousand Library Device definitions, faster
directory listings are obtained by using Index files.
v"z
Do not
v"z
v"z
copy, delete, or rename devices or schematic pages using AmigaDOS
v"z,
or you will not be able to access them. If you accidentally alter
the directory structure, the ARexx utility MKPNDIR.REXX in the
Demo:Rexx drawer will reconstruct the Index files for any or all
of the directories.
v"z
DEMO USAGE
v"z
To use the Demo, you can start from either the Workbench or
CLI. If you use the CLI, first
v"z
set a stack of 20000
v"z. At the
opening screen, select the Config IFK and specify which drive or
volume to use (the default is Demo:, the Volume name of this
disk).
Once the configuration has been specified, use the Escape key to
Exit one level and select Edit (you may also place the mouse
cursor over the IFKs at the bottom of the screen and click the
Right Mouse Button). There is a demo schematic, PNDEMO.1, which
displays several of the features of Pro-Net.
If you select NEW, you can create your own schematic from the
supplied Library Parts (use SUBDIR and specify which Library to
view), but you will not be able to save your creations with this
demo software. You can, however, create and save Device Symbols
and Device Definitions and load them into schematic pages.
The Post Processing module can generate the Net List, Bill of
Materials, Component Map, and Error Checking for any saved
schematic.
Net Lists are used by
v"z
Pro-Board
v"z, our Printed Circuit Board
routing package with manual, guided, or fully automatic placement
and routing.
If you install to hard disk, we recommend that you ASSIGN a
convenient Logical name for use in the Config screen's Data and
Lib entries (i.e. "ASSIGN CAD: Work:Pro-Net") and place it in your
User-StartUp or StartUp-Sequence. Our text gadgets are customized
so that you can Exit from any text requester using either Escape
operation (the Escape key or clicking the Right Mouse Button when
the cursor is over the IFKs at the bottom of the screen).
Consequently, they do not operate the same as standard Amiga text
gadgets.
The file
v"z
ProNet.Features
v"z is taken from the manual and describes
many the commands available. The Printing and Plotting
capabilities are provided in a separate program called
v"z
Plot-Net
v"z,
which supports HPGL and some non-HPGL plotters, as well as
printers (draft mode only). ProNet.Features is almost 90K long;
it would be a good idea to print this file out for reference.
